Is Mercury Poisoning the Root Cause of Fibromyalgia Syndrome?

Disclaimer:  All facts in this article can be confirmed. I have listed all references in the end of this article.

Andrew Cutler, a chemist with a PhD in chemistry from Princeton, was a victim of mercury poisoning. He suffered symptoms such as brain fog, chronic fatigue, and insomnia. The doctors who could not figure out what he was suffering from, called his case "the mystery illness." Finally, one doctor told him that he had amalgam illness. So what he did after much personal research and questioning several doctors, he had the source of his "mystery illness", mercury fillings, removed from his mouth. Next, he began a detoxification treatment by using effective chelating agents to remove the much accumulated mercury that had been trapped deep inside his tissues and organs for many years. After the long and slow chelation treatment, Andrew Cutler recovered from his "mystery illness."1

Now, with complete confidence, Andrew Cutler asserts that mercury poisoning can be the root cause of diseases such as CFS, FMS, MS, Lupus, sleep disorders, and many other related diseases. He further states that these health problems can very well be cured by simply removing the mercury that is trapped inside the patient's body. He says that the majority of medical doctors will not accept this point-of-view. According to Andrew, in order to see progress in a mercury poisoned patient, all amalgam fillings and other sources of mercury must be totally removed to cure the patient of his/her disease.

Doctor Boyd Haley, chemistry professor, university of Kentucky, internationally known scientist on mercury, says: "Dentists are giving people neurological diseases everyday."2

Mercury by itself is highly toxic in any form.3 The ASOMAT states: "They{Dental amalgam fillings} are made up of 50 percent mercury, a highly toxic compound which is not locked into a set filling, but escapes continuously during the life of the filling into forms of vapor, ions, and abraded particles. The absorption rate of inhaled mercury vapor is extremely high, approximately 80% of the inhaled dose, reaching the brain tissue within one blood circulation cycle."4

Dr. Robert Gammel writes: "Micro-mercurialism (long term, low level, Mercury poisoning) is one reason mercury is so dangerous. Fatigue, short term memory loss, poor concentration, obsessive, phobic, compulsive behavior, through to suicidal tendencies are the early neurological symptoms. Shakes and neuro-motor interference are usually later symptoms."5

The university of Calgary Canada conducted a study proving mercury is a poison to nerve cells. In addition, once exposed to mercury, nerve cells experience nearly instant death. You can watch a video and see how nerve cells exposed to mercury are fatally affected. Website of video is provided in the reference below)6 So the reader can clearly conclude how mercury is a neurontoxin.

The foundation for Toxic-Free Dentistry has compiled statistics from 6 studies on a total of 1,569 patients. The patients reported on their symptoms before and after their mercury amalgams were removed. These included everything from vision problems to depression. Most saw dramatic improvement once the fillings were gone. There are many people who have recovered from chronic illnesses after having their fillings removed; for example, recoveries realized from diseases such as fibromyalgia and CFS.7

Dr. Tom McGuire writes: "Chronic mercury poisoning has also been directly connected to the following diseases and health problems: Acrodynia, Alzheimer's, ALS, Asthma, Arthritis, Autism, Autoimmune diseases, Candida, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Crohn's Disease, depression, Diabetes, Eczema, Emphysema, Fibromyalgia,..."8

Please bear in mind that in most cases, if you suffer from a chronic illness, removing mercury fillings is not enough; the mercury poison is still trapped inside your body; just like Andrew Cutler, who only got better when he thoroughly detoxified his body of so much mercury from his dental fillings, you must detoxify your body of years of mercury accumulation.

If you have dental amalgams, consider having them replaced by a holistic (biological) dentist trained in their removal.

The most common symptoms of mercury poisoning are:

irritability

anxiety

nervousness

exaggerated reactions

sweating

fits of anger

burning or pain

memory loss

fear

high blood pressure

emotional instability

lack of self-confidence

shyness

loss of memory

inability to focus

chronic tiredness

hair, teeth, & skin loss

insomnia

sleep disturbances

depression

rapid heart beat

swelling

decline of intellect

nervousness

withdrawal

suicidal thoughts

manic depression

numbness & tingling of hands, feet, fingers

muscle weakness

tremors

incoordination

double vision9

If you currently suffer from any of the above symptoms, you may have been mercury poisoned and not know it!

 Symptoms of Fibromyalgia Syndrome are:

Pain

  • Achiness in soft tissues (muscles, tendons, ligaments)
  • Tender points in soft tissues
  • Pain in the joints
  • Tendonitis, repetitive motion injuries (such as carpal-tunnel syndrome, Blackberry thumb and tennis elbow)
  • Headaches (can be from muscle tension, chemical sensitivities, foods and other causes)
  • Face and/or jaw pain (TMJ)
  • Delayed muscle soreness (not sore the day of or the day after strenuous activity, but rather two or three days after; usually hits with a vengeance)

Brain and hormone problems

  • Difficulty thinking
  • Difficulty concentrating
  • Difficulty remembering
  • Difficulty keeping track of time
  • Difficulty making decisions
  • Agitation/bouts of hyperactivity
  • Depression
  • Anxiety
